What happens if you eat the Christmas decorations?
You get tinsel-itus !
You get tinsel-itus !
Not to mention a belly ache! Some Christmas garlands can look good enough to eat, others look too plasticy and fake……..I have stacks of storage containers of artifical garlands & wreaths…..yes you read that right I have synthetic garlands! I only use them for interior use, my exetrior garlands & sprays are natural.
Now, I have written about fresh greens in many of my Christmas ideas this month, why wouldn’t I use fresh greens for all my interior garlands too? Frankly because I am one very busy gal who does not want to be a slave to pine needles! Here’s a few secrets on how I make my artificial garlands look like the real deal…..and still smell great!
-
Purchase a variety of synthetic garlands. Ivy, holly, white pine, traditional green pine.
-
Use the various garlands mixed together
-
Fluff! Garlands get stuffed into our storage containers and flatten out ….. twist and turn the garlands to resemble true branches
-
Weave white lights into the garlands, this will create more depth when the lights are on.
-
Here’s where I create truly spectacular garlands……..stuff real cuttings into the garlands. Make sure you keep up the variety!
-
Lastly dress the garlands to reflect your style. Mine are accented with natural elements like pine cones, dried pomegranates and faux berries. Other ideas……… glass balls, ribbons, mini gift packages, candy canes, small ornaments ………
Here’s the best part……..even if you have the house decorated with your artificial garlands already, you can enhance them and make them even better!!!
So, I have breathtaking garlands with only a few pine needles to clean up with my regular vacuuming……….they are perfect, if I do say so myself!!!
